20 Songs or Less

One of the things that has helped me dramatically in recovery from my eating disorder is music. It's a powerful tool. Over the past couple years I've been heavily involved in a mentorship project that I created called CAKE, Creative Arts for Kids Expression. One of the tools we use that is very helpful in understanding and discovering who we are is called, 20 Songs or Less.

The idea is to choose [no more than] 20 songs that define who you are, or where you've been. Whatever story you want to tell about yourself and your life. It's harder than you think to break it down to just 20. And you'll find it will keep changing as life moves round the circles.

Here's my 20. These songs represent the many moods and stages of my eating disorder and also, life.  The list is below and below that are the MP3s courtesy of Amazon :-)

I encourage you to create yours and share your list with us. Keep in mind, this isn't a "my favorite songs list". This is a "who the hell am I" list. Do it. It will help more than you can imagine.
